Dimensional Kitchen Islands & Counters

Dimensional wood countertops and kitchen islands bring clean lines, warmth, and a more architectural feel into the kitchen. Built from carefully selected hardwood boards, this style is ideal for clients who want the character of real wood with a refined, intentional surface that fits naturally into the surrounding cabinetry and layout.

Kitchen Island & Counter Design

Custom Layouts

Dimensional counters and islands can be built around the exact size, thickness, overhang, seating area, and flow of the kitchen. Whether the project calls for a long island top, a perimeter counter, a waterfall end, a butcher-block-style work surface, or a custom shape around cabinetry, appliances, or seating, the piece can be made to fit the room instead of forcing the room to fit a standard top.

Premium Wood Selection

Because we mill all of our own wood, we have flexibility in species, scale, and layout. Ash, cherry, maple, walnut, elm, cedar, tulip poplar, and other hardwoods can be selected based on the color, grain, durability, and overall feel of the kitchen — from light and modern to rich, warm, and dramatic.

Functional Features

A kitchen surface needs to be beautiful, but it also needs to work. Sink cutouts, faucet holes, cooktop openings, routed drainboards, integrated trivets, juice grooves, charging access, appliance clearances, and other functional details can be incorporated into the design so the counter or island supports everyday use without feeling generic.

Design Details

Dimensional tops can be customized with edge profiles, softened corners, waterfall details, laser engraving, subtle inlays, or contrasting wood accents. These design choices allow the piece to stay clean and refined while still feeling custom to the home.

Finish Options

Finish selection is especially important in a kitchen. Our preferred UV-light-cured hard wax oil gives the wood a natural, elevated feel while creating a food-safe, durable surface that is easy to maintain and touch up over time. For clients who want a thicker, glossier protective layer, an epoxy flood coat can create a more sealed, high-build surface.
