Beauty at the Heart of Your Kitchen

Live Edge

A kitchen island is the place where coffee gets poured, groceries get dropped, homework gets spread out, and guests naturally gather before anyone ever makes it to the table. It is one of the hardest-working surfaces in the house and one of the most lived-around.

That is why we believe it should be more than functional. We build custom kitchen islands and counters from locally sourced hardwood, with options in natural wood, book-matched slabs, epoxy river designs, and clean dimensional styles. Each one is designed to fit your space beautifully and serve the way you live every day.

Which island top is right for your kitchen?

There are three ways we build a wood island top or counter, and the choice changes both the look and the price. A live edge top keeps the tree’s natural edge on one or both long sides — the most dramatic option, and the one people usually picture when they say “slab island.” A dimensional top is glued up from straight-cut boards for a clean, squared profile that fits flush against cabinetry and walls; it is the practical choice for perimeter counters and for kitchens with a more architectural style. An epoxy river top joins two live edge halves with a poured river of clear or tinted epoxy, which also lets us reach widths a single slab can’t.

Typical island tops run 36″ to 48″ wide and 6 to 10 feet long at 1¾″ to 2″ thick; counters are usually 25½″ deep. All three are finished with a food-safe, UV-cured hard wax oil that stands up to water, wine and daily wipe-downs and can be refreshed in place. Tops are delivered ready to set on your cabinetry — we can cut for a drop-in sink, cooktop or outlet strip, and we install across the Baltimore–Washington area.

An 84″ × 36″ live edge island top in cherry starts at $3,150; walnut, epoxy river and larger sizes add to that. Price your exact size in the island builder — no email required — or call (240) 720-3317 to talk through a counter that needs a template.
