Frequently Asked Questions

What does Makers Woodshop make?

Makers Woodshop creates custom hardwood furniture, surfaces, and specialty wood pieces, including dining tables, bars, bar tops, kitchen islands, countertops, desks, conference tables, mantels, shelves, wall art, charcuterie boards, and one-of-a-kind commissions.

Most projects begin with a conversation about what you want to build, the approximate size, style, wood species, budget, and timeline. From there, we help narrow down material options, design details, finish choices, and any functional requirements before providing a quote.

No. Many clients start with only a general idea. We can help guide you through wood species, dimensions, live edge versus dimensional style, epoxy options, finish choices, and the overall design direction.

Pricing depends on the size, wood species, slab selection, design complexity, finish, base or support system, epoxy work, delivery, installation, and any custom features such as engraving, CNC work, lighting, or cutouts.

Custom projects typically require a deposit before production begins. The exact amount depends on the size and scope of the project.

Timelines vary depending on the project size, material availability, design complexity, finish, and current shop schedule. Larger tables, bars, commercial projects, epoxy work, and built-ins usually require more time than smaller pieces.

We commonly work with ash, cedar, cherry, maple, walnut, elm, tulip poplar, and other available hardwoods. Availability can vary depending on what has been milled, dried, and prepared.

Live edge wood preserves the natural outside shape of the tree, giving the piece organic movement and character. Dimensional wood is milled and shaped into cleaner, straighter lines for a more refined or architectural look.

Our preferred finish is a UV-light-cured hard wax oil. It gives the wood a natural, refined feel while creating a durable surface that is easy to maintain and touch up over time.

Yes. Logos, names, brand marks, dates, maps, and other personalized details can be added through CNC engraving, laser engraving, epoxy-filled designs, inlays, or custom carving.

Delivery and installation may be available depending on the size, location, and project type. Large tables, bars, mantels, counters, shelves, commercial pieces, and wall installations may require additional planning.

Send the project type, approximate dimensions, preferred style, wood species if you have one in mind, photos of the space, inspiration images, location, timeline, and any special features such as epoxy, engraving, cutouts, lighting, or installation needs.
